Another tusker found dead in Ganjam of Odisha

Berhampur: With no respite in sight from pachyderm deaths in the state, another tusker found dead in Dhipasahi under Tarasingh police station in Ganjam district today.

As per the report, some locals spotted the carcass of the dead elephant lying near Kokalaba drain near the village in the morning and called up police and forest officials.

While forest officials reached the spot and conducted preliminary investigation, no mark of injury was found on the carcass disqualifying any the chance of poaching.

Further investigation is underway to find out the cause of the death of the tusker, informed a forest official.

Notably, this is the second case elephant death in Ganjam district in past two days. A five-year-old elephant with its tusks intact was found dead in Digapahandi forest range yesterday with marks of gun-shot on its body. At least five bullet marks were found on the carcass.
