Another Anaconda dies at Nandankanan

Bhubaneswar: Bringing a shock to animal lovers in the State, another Anaconda died at the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) here today.

The zoo officials swung into action immediately and sent the reptile for autopsy to ascertain the cause of the death this morning.

Notably on, a total number of eight Anacondas had been brought to the zoo from Madras Crocodile Bank Trust a few months back out of which one died on November 28. While the post-mortem report in the first case is awaited the second death has taken place.

Similarly, four more Anacondas are reportedly sick and under treatment at the zoo.

A special team of Veterinarians have been called up to take stock of the Anaconda deaths in the zoo of late.

The fresh reptile death has brought down the number of Anacondas living in the zoo to six.
