‘Anganwadi’ Remark: BJP Mahila Morcha demands Damodar Rout’s ouster Bhubaneswar: Expressing their disapproval to Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout’s regret over his ‘Swami Chhadi, Anganwadi’ remark, the Mahila Morcha activists of state BJP on Sunday demanded his resignation.

A group of women activists of the saffron party staged a demonstration at Ram Mandir square and burnt the effigy of the Minister to press their demand.

On the other hand, Rout said, “It is very unfortunate that they are still protesting despite my regret which I expressed through media yesterday. They have become vindictive towards me since the day I placed a comparative report between four BJP-ruled states and Odisha. How can I help someone who does not understand the language and its meaning?”

The state BJP cornered the BJD Vice President for his controversial remarks during a party programme in Jajpur district on Wednesday. Some Anganwadi workers also had staged protests in the city, following which Rout had expressed regret over his remark yesterday saying it is an Odia proverb and wrongly interpreted.

Rout had also questioned the integrity of BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar over her derogatory remarks on him and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and urged the people of Odisha to judge it.

Earlier, Samantasinghar had named Rout as “Srikhandi” and Naveen Patnaik as “Dhrutarashtra” of Mahabharata epic.
