Anganwadi employees’ salary hiked, retirement age extended in Odisha

Balasore: Announcing major sops for the Anganwadi employees in the state, Odisha Government today hiked their salaries, honorarium and also extended the retirement age.

Making the new announcement at the State Secretariate this afternoon soon after a high-level meeting, CM Naveen Patnaik appreciated the Anganwadi employees for their contribution and informed that, the Anganwadi workers (AWWs) will now get 7500 per month as against 6000 which they were getting earlier.

For Mini AWWs, the hike has been made from 4125 to 5375 and the same has been kept at 3750 as against Rs 3000 earlier, he added.

The new salary structure will be effective backdated from October 1, says an official communication.

As per the new announcement, the retirement age of these grassroot workers has been extended from 60 to 62 years.

Among other decisions, the Anganwadi employees across category could now avail 15 days summer vacation once in a year and 50 per cent of Anganwadi supervisor posts will be filled up out of Anganwadi workers.
