Bhubaneswar: The milk packets of Andhra Pradesh, which were meant for free distribution to Anganwadi Centers to provide nutritious food to children, are allegedly being traded Kandhamal market in Odisha.

Reportedly, the milk supplied to the Anganwadi Centers is being sold in the Odisha market. The vendors in Kandhamal’s Patangi market are selling the milk packets for Rs 40 per litre following which the tea sellers in the area are purchasing the milk.

Hence, the local dealers who are selling locally manufactured milk are finding it difficult to withstand in the Odisha market.

The milk packets are being sold in the name of ‘Vijay Vajra’ and carry the image of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan.

It is to be noted that the packets that are available in various shops in Kandhamal market are not for sale and are meant for free distribution only.

However, nobody knows that how the milk packets are being transported to Odisha’s Kandhamal for sale. It is suspected that some brokers are involved in the illegal transportation of milk packets and selling them to vendors and various shopkeepers in the area.

Locals have questioned how the milk packets reached the area despite police patrolling. They have said that more than 1,000 litres of milk packets are being illegally transported to the district from Andhra Pradesh regularly and being delivered to the vendors in the areas for sale.

They have demanded to the district administration to take action against the issue.
