Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the ‘Ama Gaon, Ama Bikas’ (Our Village, Our Development) programme at the state Secretariat here on Monday.

Patnaik inaugurated the programme on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Divas, which is observed to mark the birth anniversary of legendary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.

The Chief Minister talked to the elected representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions and general public of Rengali Gram Panchayat (in Sambalpur), Sankuda GP (in Ganjam), Narayanpatna GP (in Koraput) and Khairabad GP (in Jajpur district) through video conference and assured the people to resolve their problems.

“We have initiated a new programme called Ama Gaon, Ama Bikas, where I directly speak to the people twice a week to hear about their projects and desires and I sanction the projects immediately. Today I sanctioned projects worth Rs 4 crore for four Panchayats,” said the CM while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the new programme.

“Sarpanchs of the four GPs presented their grievances in the presence of their respective collectors. Honourable Chief Minister sanctioned the projects within 10 minutes and assured to review the projects in near future,” said Panchayati Raj Minister Pradeep Maharathy.

The sanctioned projects include ponds, temples and mosques, said sources.
