Bhubaneswar: All promises made in 2014 poll manifesto have been fulfilled and the 4.5 cr people of Odisha are my family, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Tuesday.

While reviewing the performance of his government in the last five years, Patnaik said, “We had made promises to the people of Odisha five years before. My Government had on 21st May, 2014 got again the opportunity to serve the people with their blessings. On that very evening at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, we had adopted our election manifesto as our Government’s resolution and principle.”

He stated, “I have been reviewing every year on March 21st at the Council of Ministers meeting how far the promises being kept. Now the term of five years is going to end. I am presenting before you how far we have fulfilled our promises given to you all.”

Speaking about the housing projects, the CM said, “We had committed to convert all the Kucha Houses in the rural areas into Pucca Houses. During the last five years, we have constructed more than 20 lakh pucca houses for our people.”

Highlighting the government’s achievement in creation of additional irrigational potential, the CM said, “We have created 9 lakh hectres and are in the process of creating 10 lakh hectres by May 2019. The details of the projects are given in the Water Resources Department’s Web site.”

Patnaik further said, “It is my firm belief that deserving people even if they are not in the BPL list must be covered under Food Security. Towards this objective, we are implementing our own Food Security Scheme.”

Patnaik said the state government is providing Education Loan at 1%. “Career Counseling Centres have been opened in Universities and Colleges. We have provided direct and indirect employment opportunities to the 12 lakh youths out of which 1.12 lakh is in the Government sector,” he added.

Speaking about the Universal Health Coverage, the CM said, “Through Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, we are providing Universal Health Coverage. Free medicines, Diagnosis and treatment from Sub-Centres to Medical Colleges. While Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana provides upto 5 lakhs health cover In case of women it is 7 lakhs.”

Highlighting the Social security scheme, the CM said, “We are covering 48 lakh deserving persons under our Social Security Schemes. This is one of the highest in the country as regards people covered and population.”

He said from 2015 the state government is providing loan to farmers at the rate of one percent and now in KALIA scheme the government is providing the loan at the rate of zero percent.

Following are the other highlights of the government achievements:

Women empowerment

We promised to provide SHG loans at the rate of one percent now we are providing loans at the rate of zero percent interest. In addition to this 70 lakh women are part of the socio-economic-political movement.

Quality Education

We promise to provide Model Schools in all Blocks. In 190 Blocks Model Schools are functioning. In rest of the Blocks Model Schools will start in a year.

Scholarships

We promised to increase scholarships. About 70 thousand students are now availing scholarships.

Industrial Development Both our Make in Odisha Conclaves have been hugely successful paving way for Employment opportunities for 30 Lakh youths.

Shelter Security for Slum Dwellers

Our path-breaking 3000 Mission will provide land rights to slum dwellers and property rights to deserving people in the Corporation areas.

Shelter Security 

In a phased manner, all Kachha houses in the State will be converted to Pucca houses. We have completed a record 20 lakh Pucca houses. All the houses with photograph of the beneficiaries and with GPS location are available in the Rural Housing Website of the State Government.

KBK Areas

We are continuing with special initiatives for KBK. In fact, Koraput and Bolangir Medical Colleges are functional and Kalahandi Medical College is under progress.

Biju Express Way is one of our biggest promises. More than 70 percent of work is over and inaugurated.

On the occasion, the CM also transferred financial assistance to the bank accounts of additional 4.80 lakh KALIA scheme beneficiaries.
