Album Actress Simran Singh’s Death: Family Members Sit On Dharna Seeking CBI Probe

Jharsuguda: Family members of popular Sambalpuri album actress Simran Singh, who was found dead under mysterious circumstance on January 3 this year, demanded an impartial investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the case.

According to reports, Simran’s kin launched an indefinite hunger strike in front of Jharsuguda Collectorate to press their demand.

“It is already one month that my daughter Simran Singh was murdered. Her husband Dhrubaraj Suna, his mother and uncle Ruku Suna are the prime accused of her murder. We had filed an FIR against them all. However, the police are clueless about them. Therefore, we began this dharna to demand justice for my daughter,” said Simran’s mother Rani Debi.

“The case should be investigated by the CBI so that the truth will come out and we will get justice. If not, we will continue our dharna till our demands are fulfilled,” she added.

On the other hand, the Sambalpur police had taken Simran’s accused husband on a three-day remand from Jan 27 to 29 for further interrogation in the case.

The 20-year-old album actress was found dead under a bridge of Mahanadi river near Goira Matha under Mahanadi Bridge on January 3.

Claiming it to be a murder, her family members had filed a police complaint, based on which the Belapada police in Balangir district had arrested Simran’s husband on January 4. They have registered a case (56/18) under Sections 366 & 376 of the IPC and Section 3 of the POCSO Act over the incident, nevertheless, they are yet to unfold the mystery over Simran’s death.
