Alarming rise in Covid-19 cases reported in Twin City of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Covid-19 cases in Odisha’s Twin City continue to rise on an alarming rate. As on January 12, Bhubaneswar recorded 803 positive cases while Cuttack city  reported 563 new Covid-19 cases.

According to reports by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), out of the total 803 positive cases registered today, 48 cases are quarantine cases while 755 cases are local contact cases.

With today’s development, the total Covid-19 positive cases have increased to 1,28,779. The recovered cases are 1,22,033. The total deceased cases are 1103. At present, the active Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar stand at 4622.

In the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC area) 563 new Covid-19 cases were registered. While 68 cases were Institutional quarantine cases, 246 cases were home quarantine cases. As many as 249 local contact cases were recorded today.

The total cases in CMC are 48,173 while the recovered cases are 45,662. Active cases today are 2082 while the deaths are 429.

The recovered cases in BMC and CMC on January 10 are 109 and 41 respectively.

Odisha reported a huge spike in Covid cases with 8778 positive cases including 2615 from Khordha have been detected in the last 24 hours.

The total cases include 792 in the 0-18 years age group have been found, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Tuesday.

Among the 8778 positives, 5096 are quarantine cases and 3682 are local contacts. There are a total of 35,242 active cases. The positivity rate stands at 29.79%.
