Rourkela: After failing to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Muktikanta Biswal of the Steel City embarked on another Padayatra from here to Bhubaneswar to meet Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to place his various demands.

Construction of the second bridge over Brahmani river in Rourkela and upgradation of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a super specialty hospital are the two major demands of Biswal.

“I will meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and some BJD leaders to raise various demands, including super specialty hospital status to IGH. I would also discuss about pending projects in Rourkela like the second bridge over Brahmani river,” he said while speaking to the reporters.

Notably, Muktikanta had on April 16 embarked upon a more than 1,400 km journey on foot to meet the PM and remind him of his promises made to upgrade Rourkela’s Ispat General Hospital to a Speciality Hospital and Medical College and construct a second bridge over Brahmani River.

He had even approached Union Minister Jual Oram, Sundergarh MP to help him meet the PM but it did not work out, following which, he was on a hunger strike and was repeatedly detained by Delhi Police for his endeavours.

Later, he broke his fast on July 4 after failing to meet the Prime Minister and returned to Rourkela on July 8.
