Cuttack: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police busted an adulterated edible oil racket by raiding an oil godown at Nuasahi in Khannagar area here on Monday and arrested owner of the godown.
Acting on a tip-off, the city police conducted the raid on the illegal oil godown under the leadership of ACP Anil Mohanty and is said to have seized more than 300 hundred containers with 15 liters oil each. Besides, many incriminating materials which were being used in the oil godown were also recovered during the search.
Police, which also laid its hand on some documents of the godown, arrested owner of the illegal godown Rabi Rout and detained one of his aides.
From its preliminary investigation, police said that the adulterated edible oils with logos of many branded companies like Gold Winner, Freedom, Sehat, and Double Hiran were being circulated across Odisha.
Police will interrogate Rout and his aide to extract more information about the adulterated edible oil racket.
The cops are slated to conduct raid on other illegal oil godowns in the city soon.
