Adulterated drug racket busted in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: The district police on Monday busted an adulterated cough syrups racket and arrested three persons.

The accused have been identified as Rajesh Nag (35), Indra Behera (29) and Dasaratha Lakra (29).

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a deserted locality near Fatak which led to the arrest of the trio. Besides, around 200 bottles of adulterated cough syrups and 41 strips of high power sedatives were also recovered from them.

During interrogation, they confessed to have been procuring the adulterated drugs from one G Tanipolu Patra of Rajganagpur and selling it to addicts in Sambalpur at exorbitant rates.

Based on their revelation, Patra was also arrested by the cops.

All of them, meanwhile, have been forwarded to the court.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
