Adivasi Mela-2019 begins in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Adivasi Mela-2019 at the IDCOL Exhibition Ground in Unit-III of city this evening.

The annual event, which has 180 stalls this year, will continue till February 9.

The Adivasi mela showcases the art, artifacts, culture, tradition, and music of the tribal people of Odisha.

The stalls at the mela display and sells various handicrafts items made by the tribal people. Several cultural, musical and dance programs are also conducted in the evenings as a part of the mela.

The visitors will also get several other facilities including ATM and first aids. Besides, heavy security personnel along with firefighters have been stationed at the site to avoid any untoward incident during the annual fair.

There are 62 tribal communities in the state, of which 13 communities belong to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
