Aditya Kumar Mohapatra sworn in as Orissa High Court Judge

Cuttack: The Advocate Aditya Kumar Mohapatra was sworn in as the new Judge of the Orissa High Court, Cuttack on Friday. Earlier on November 3, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind appointed him as the new Judge of the Orissa High Court.

Reportedly, Chief Justice of the High Court, Justice S. Muralidhar administered the oath of office to him.

The newly appointed Aditya Kumar Mohapatra is a resident of Cuttack’s Sutahat area. His family owns the largest publishing house of Odisha known as Grantha Mandira, added reports.

Justice Aditya’s grandfather Sridhar Mohapatra was the founder of Grantha Mandira. His father, late Abhiram Mohapatra was looking after the publication house.

Mohapatra passed his 10th standard from Ravenshaw Collegiate School in 1984 and completed his graduation from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. Following this, he completed his LLB degree from Madhusudan Law College (University). He was enrolled as a lawyer in the State Bar Council in 1995.

Since 1995, he started practicing as a junior to Justice PK Mishra, a well-known lawyer during that time.

Justice Aditya played a pivotal role in Odisha Human Rights Commission, BPUT and the Election Commission of India as their representative. He was proficient at handling all kind of cases in Orissa High Court. For the past 24 years, he has successfully handled several cases in the High Court.

It is to be noted that, Supreme Court Collegium had recommended two lawyers and two judicial officers for elevation as judges of the Orissa High Court. Besides, newly appointed Aditya Kumar Mohapatra, Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo along with Radha Krishna Pattanaik and Sashikanta Mishra were appointed as Judges. The Orissa High Court currently has 18 sitting judges.
