New Delhi : Three newly elected BJD Rajya Sabha members from Odisha took oath of affirmation on Wednesday. They are veteran BJD leader Prashanta Nanda, and recently inducted into party fold- Dr. Achyuta Samanta and Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.
Members walked up to a specially put up microphone right below the presiding officer’s chair to take oath in the Upper House and then met Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu who welcomed them with a handshake.
All three members took oath in Odia language.
The newly sworn in MPs signed the members’ register and greeted Ministers and members present in the House.
KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta entered in active politics by joining BJD last month.
However, Nanda, veteran ollywood actor was the Member of 12th and 14th Odisha Legislative Assembly from Begunia while Soumya Ranjan was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha from Bhubaneswar.
