Abhijit Iyer Mitra deposes before Odisha Assembly House Committee finally

Bhubaneswar: Putting aside all speculations, journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra finally deposed before Odisha Assembly House Committee today in the case pertaining to his derogatory remark on Konark Sun Temple and Odisha.

Abhijit who is believed to have reached Odisha late yesterday night and remained under police’s protection arrived in the Assembly in the morning under tight security. He appeared before the committee at 11 am in Room No 54 of the Assembly.

Earlier Abhijit had been summoned by the House Committee headed by Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Narasingha Mishra to appear before it on October 11. However, he didn’t appear at that time intentionally. The committee is probing Breach of Privilege allegedly committed by him.

Later the Mishra, Mishra re-summoned the accused journalist in the case and scheduled the date of his appearance on October 23.

While the first phase of questioning of the accused journalist was underway in the presence of other members of the committee comprising of KV Singhdeo, Debi Prasad Mishra, Arun Sahoo, Sanjay Das Burma and Pramila Mallick till this report was being filed.
