Abandoned newborn twins rescued from toilet at Balangir Railway Station

Balangir: Two abandoned newborn twin baby girls were rescued by the members of the Childline from a toilet at Balangir railway station this morning.

According to reports, a passenger, who had gone to the toilet to attend the nature’s call, first heard the cry of the babies, who are believed to be two-months-old, and went closer and saw the infants put in a bag. Later, he informed the officials of the railway station who subsequently reported the matter to the members of the Childline.

The Childline officials after rescuing the babies, admitted them to the district headquarters hospital.

Dr. Surjit Nayak, who is treating the twins said, “Condition of the babies is stable. However, they need more care as they are just infants.”

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the matter to trace the parents who left the baby there.
