Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar on Tuesday informed that 95% electronic voting machines (EVMs) have reached the state out of the total 90,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) allotted to the state for the upcoming general election.

“This time we are getting EVMs from six states. In the 2009 and 2014 elections, EVMs made by Bharat Electronics Limited were used in our state. The Election Commission makes changes like this during the elections. This exercise is called randomization.”

“The six states from where our state has been allocated are Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. The EVMs have been brought to Odisha in 2 trains from UP to Jharsuguda,” he added.

He further informed that the first level checking (FLC) will be done soon in the presence of the bona fide representatives of various political parties. The FLC will be recorded by CCTV.
