90 schools closed in Koraput owing to negligible student strength

Koraput: As many as 90 schools in the Koraput district have been shut for having less than 10 students in each of the institutions. Koraput District Education Officer (DEO) Pramod Kumar Munda informed about the closure of schools on Friday.

According to sources, schools having less than 10 students on the rolls were closed and a notice has been issued to the concerned school authorities to transfer their students to nearby schools.

Sources said the students will be transferred to school which should be located within 5 km radius from the current school. Moreover, the student will be provided with facilities for transportation to support mobility.

As per norms, at least 10 students are required to run a school. Since 90 schools registered student strength less than 10 the government has sent a notice for its closure.
