Jajpur: A 57 year old man was arrested by Binjharpur Police on Thursday on the charge of rape of a minor girl in Jajpur district of Odisha. The 9 year old girl was rescued in a critical condition and admitted to hospital for treatment.
The accused has been identified as Shaikh Besarat of Piramahalla village.
As per reports, the minor girl was returning to home along with her friends after finishing playing game with them when the accused came in a bike and abducted her luring her to get chocolate from the market.
As the girl did not return home, her worried family members searched for her at different places. At night they somehow found her in the house of Shaikh Besarat. Later the villagers handed over the accused to Binjharpur Police.
Today, after family members of the girl lodged written complaint in this matter Jajpur SP Rahul PR visited the spot and started investigation. Besides, the scientific team also reached the spot for investigation. Truth will come out after investigation. Though Police are yet to release a statement in this regard, Jajpur SP Rahul PR said that truth will be known after investigation. The locals have urged for strong action against the culprit.
