8 tourists injured as car rams into tree in Odisha

Puri: At least eight tourists were injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a tree today. The accident took place near Gop Tehsil office in Puri district.

According to reports, the road mishap took place when the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle and hit a roadside tree. The tourists were on their way to Konark Sun Temple from their native village in Dobal area in Bhadrak district.

On being informed about the accident, police and firefighters from Gop rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation.

Initially, all the injured were admitted to the Konark Hospital, however, driver of the vehicle and two others were shifted to a Bhubaneswar-based hospital as their condition deteriorated, said sources.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the matter.
