8 more patients succumb to Covid in Odisha including 1 from capital city

Bhubaneswar: As many as eight more Covid patients have succumbed to the deadly disease in Odisha, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department on Thursday.

The death toll in the State rises to 8,550 following the report of patients who succumbed to the virus. Out of the eight Covid deaths, three deaths have been reported from Sundargarh district and one from Bhubaneswar.

Details of cases confirmed as death due to Covid-19, after due completion of the death audit process:

1.A 80 years old Male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Cerebro Vascular Accident.

2.A 82 years old Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Carcinoma in Lung with Metastasis.

3.A 64 years old Female of Keonjhar District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

4.A 45 years old Male of Koraput District who was also suffering from Bronchial Asthma.

5.A 45 years old Female of Rayagada District.

6.A 75 years old Male of Sundargarh District who was also suffering from Hypertension.

7.A 38 years old Female of Sundargarh District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypothyroidism, Rheumatic Heart Disease.

8.A 55 years old Female of Sundargarh District who was also suffering from Hypertension.

The Health Department has also mentioned that the list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19.

Earlier on Wednesday, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena said that the third wave will end soon if people follow Covid-appropriate behaviour such as wearing masks, sanitisation, and social distancing.
