Tangi: At least eight persons sustained critical injuries after a Bolero they were travelling in was hit by a Hyva truck near Chandpur bypass on NH-16 in Khordha district on Tuesday.
While the injured could not have been identified yet, they are believed to be residents of Berhampur in Ganjam district.
The mishap took place early in the morning while the Bolero carrying at least eight persons was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Berhampur. The driver of the speeding Hyva truck coming from the opposite direction failed to detect the Bolero and ended up dashing against it head-on, near the bypass entrance. While, the Bolero got badly mangled in the collision, the Hyva driver managed to drive away with his vehicle from the spot following the incident.
All the injured were first rushed to Tangi CHC in a critical condition and two of them later shifted to Bhubaneswar as their conditions deteriorated further.
Chandpur Police has reached the spot started investigation after seizing the mangled Bolero.
