Odisha to implement 7th Pay Commission recommendations from Sep 1Bhubaneswar: In what is being seen as a ‘Dussehra gift’ for state government employees, the Odisha government on Tuesday announced the much-awaited implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations with effect from September 1, 2017.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the decision saying, “My government has decided to implement the recommendation of the Committee constituted for examination of 7th Pay Commission Report and its adoption for the State Government Employees.”

About 4.5 lakh serving state government employees and 3.5 lakh retired employees will get enhanced emoluments and higher pension respectively following the implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

The state government will bear an additional annual expenditure of about Rs. 4500 crore due to the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission award.

The state government had constituted a Fitment Committee to look into the recommendations so as to arrive at a solution to implement the recommendations.

The Union Cabinet had approved the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission a year ago.
