7th Pay Commission: Govt employees to get 20% arrears from this month, details here

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday issued directives for release of the final 20 % of the arrears of the 7th Pay Commission. Earlier 80 % of the arrears had been paid. About 4 lakh employees will be benefitted with this. It was informed in a note released from CMO today.

As per the information, the CM today issued directive for release of 20% arrears of the 7th Pay Commission recommended salary. With this, the State government employees will get the full amount of the arrears under the 7th pay commission.

While earlier 80% of the arrears had been released, about 4 lakh Government employees will be benefitted out of this. An additional budget of Rs 850 crore was proposed to meet this expense.

The employees will get the 20 % arrears amount with their salary of March, 2022.

It is to be noted that accepting the recommendations by the 7th Pay Commission, the State Government implemented it in 2016. Accordingly, the enhanced salary was paid from September 2017.

As per the recommendations by the 7th Pay Commission, the arrear was pending for the period of 20 months from January 2016 to September 2017. It had been decided that the amount would be released in instalments. As per this decision, 40 % of the arrear was paid in the session 2017-18, 10 % of the arrear in 2019-20 and 30 % of the arrear in 2021-22.
