7th Pay Commission: Government’s This Decision Will Benefit Several Employees; Know Details

The government has made a major change in the rules of family pension by issuing an important order. After this change, now the condition of 7 years continuous service has been removed in this pension scheme which was still mandatory. This new rule will benefit thousands of employees of the country.

There is news of a great relief for military families. The Ministry of Defense has removed the mandatory condition of seven years of continuous service to receive enhanced Ordinary Family Pension (EOFP) to the family in case of death of a military worker. The family used to get this pension only after the first seven years of service. This information was given in an official statement on Monday.

According to the statement, this pension was half of the last salary of the military personnel and it was available to the family for ten years from the day of his death. According to the statement, the essential condition of continuous service for seven years has been removed from October, 2019.

If EOFP was half of the salary of military personnel, then the Ordinary Family Pension (OFP) would get 30 percent of salary. In addition, those families of Defense Forces who have died within ten years before 1st October 2019 without completing seven years of continuous service will also be eligible for EOFP from 1st October 2019. If the service worker dies after leaving the job, retirement, then EOFP is given for seven years from the date of his death or till the time the worker is 67 years, whichever is earlier.

The Defense Ministry said that the families of those defense personnel, who died within 10 years before October 1, 2019 before serving for seven consecutive years, will now get EOFP. Till now, the rule of the concerned defense personnel for the completion of seven consecutive years of service to provide EOFP to the relatives of the personnel of the defense forces, but now this condition has been abolished. The EOFP defense personnel have 50 percent of their previous salary, while the Ordinary Family Pension (OFP) personnel have 30 percent of their previous salary.
