Paradip: In a shameful incident, an elderly man was detained by residents of Nuagan of Abhaychandpur police limits in Paradip area for allegedly raping a Class V student.
The accused has been identified as Prafulla Mohanty, a resident of Nolia Sahi of the same area.
As per the report, the victim minor girl identified as a Class V student of the same village had been to purchase something from the shop run by Prafulla when the incident took place. The accused took the girl into his shop and outraged her modesty by locking the gate.
Smelling something fishy inside the shop, some locals broke open the grill and rescued the victim from the clutches of Prafulla and thrashed him mercilessly before handing over to police.
The victim’s medical examination has been completed at a local hospital and further investigation in the case is underway.
