Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday put seven districts on alert in view of cyclonic storm ‘Pabuk,’ formed over South China Sea.
According to reports, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi has asked the collectors of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Ganjam and Khurda districts to stay alert and monitor the situation closely as the cyclonic storm is expected to cross Andaman Island on January 6 and Myanmar coast during January 7-8.
The fishermen also have been advised not to venture into Andaman Sea during 4th-7th and into adjoining southeast and east-central Bay of Bengal during 6th-7th January.
“A cyclonic storm “PABUK” lay centred at 0830 hours IST of 03rd January 2019 over south China Sea near latitude 6.0°N and longitude 105.0° E, about 1500 km east-southeast of Port Blair. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and emerge into Andaman Sea around the forenoon of 05th January 2019,” a bulletin of IMD said.
