Balasore: In yet another firecracker mishap in the district, at least seven children sustained injuries and two of them turned critical while bursting crackers at Sanadahadi village under Kuradhia panchayat on Sunday.
The incident took place while a group of children were busy lighting crackers in the village and one of them suddenly lifted an un-burst cracker from the ground to examine. The un-burst crackers went off suddenly inflicting burn injuries on at least seven children present nearby. One of them sustained critical injury on his head and another sustained injury on his hands and legs.
The injured were immediately rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) by family members where the critical duo were shifted to surgery ward later.

Notably, 11 persons were killed in an illegal firecracker preparation unit explosion at Bahabalpur village in the district on October 18. Firecrackers were being produced inside a thatched house which caught fire after the explosion.
