Rayagada: As many as 64 school students have been tested positive for Covid in Rayagada district of Odisha on Sunday evening.
Reportedly, the Covid positive students have been identified as the inmates of Anwesha hostel in Rayagada’s Kotlaguda under Sadar block.
A team of State government’s health department arrived at the spot post the information was made aware to the officials.
In a sigh of relief, the students have no symptoms of coronavirus and are in stable condition, added reports.
Earlier on May 8, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of Health Department conducted a RT-PCR test of 257 children of Block-1 of the hostel.
After the detection of the Covid cases, necessary steps have been taken in view of the safety of other students, informed the hostel warden.
It is to be noted that students of eight English medium schools of Rayagada have been residing in the above stated hostel for studies. Among the Covid positives, there are 20 students of Bissamcuttack’s Hatamuniguda Government High School.
“There is no corona outbreak as such. The students have no symptoms and have been isolated. Medical teams have been deployed in the hostels,” informed Saroj Kumar Mishra, District Magistrate, Rayagada.
