613 grams of Gold seized from Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhuabneswar: The officials of the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here seized two gold bars in total weighing 613 grams worth Rs 20,50,000 (approx.) from the possession of a passenger on Wednesday.

The gold bars of foreign origin (Perth mint, Australia) were detected at domestic frisking booth by CT/GD P. S. Ray from a passenger namely Amarjit Singh, who had arrived at Bhubaneswar from Bangkok at around midnight and was supposed to travel to Delhi at 5.15 am.

The gold bars were wrapped inside black coloured tape and concealed inside his turban. The detection could be made due to heavy beep sound during the frisking. After a thorough searching the gold bars were seized, informed Bhubaneswar Airport CISF officials.

The suspect, his belonging and the gold bars have been handed over to the customs officials and a detailed investigation is underway.
