Berhampur: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 62-year-old man in Patapur area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The accused, identified as Mrutyunjaya Das, has been apprehended on the basis of a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim yesterday, police said.
The accused is a distant relative of the victim, sources said.
Police registered a case against the accused on charges of rape under the Indian Penal Code and under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
Police said, medical test report of the girl is awaited and further investigations are underway.
