6-year-old dies as elephant demolishes wall in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A six-year-old minor boy died after an elephant demolished a wall of his house at Ranibeda village under Raisuan Panchayat in Keonjhar district late on Friday night. The deceased minor has been identified as Narayan, son of Binod Mohanty of the village. Narayan had enrolled himself in standard one at Jhatikipashi Government Primary School.

Reportedly, Binod works as daily labourer in the village. Narayan was asleep with his  family which includes his mother Rita and 5-year-old sister Smrutirekha also when the elephant broke into their house in search of food.

As a result, the wall collapsed on Narayan. The jumbo also tried to pull out Smrutirekha by its trunk when but her mother luckily managed to rescue her.

He was immediately rescued by villagers and rushed to the Kamakhyanagar hospital. However, Narayan could not be saved and he was declared brought dead.
