6 quintals of ganja seized from truck, 2 held

Subarnapur: In a crackdown on drug peddlers, police seized a truck carrying around 6 quintals of marijuana in Khambeswaripali village under Biramaharajpur Tehsil in the district on Monday and arrested two persons.

The arrested drug peddler duo could not have been identified yet.

Subarnapur Police got a tip-off on the ganja laden truck at around 10 AM in the morning. A police team chased and intercepted the truck (Registration No. CG 04 JA 5007) at Khambeswaripali Square immediately and conducted a search of the vehicle. During their search cops found several sacks, cartons and paper packs of ganja loaded on the vehicle and seized them.

Police said the ganja was being transported to neighbouring state Madhya Pradesh from Boudh district of Odisha. However, cops maintained that the exact cost of the seized drug would be assessed in the presence of a magistrate soon.
