Bhubaneswar: At least six persons have been arrested in Rourkela of Sundergarh district in Odisha for spreading rumours about COVID-19 situation in the state, informed SP K Shiva Subramani on Monday.
5 cases have been registered till now in Rourkela police district and 6 persons have been arrested so far in connection with posting fake content in social media regarding COVID -19. Stringent actions will be taken by the police against rumour spreaders, said SP K Shiva Subramani today afternoon during a press meet in Rourkela Jhirpani police station.
In last 24 hours, a total of 54 cases have been registered in different police stations in the State for violating the guidelines in connection to Coronavirus pandemic.
Out of the 54 cases, 50 cases have been registered for violation of lockdown norms, while three cases for rumour mongering and one case for related issue to Coronavirus, Odisha DGP tweeted.
