6 killed, several injured as bus overturns after being hit by truck in Odisha

Balasore: At least six persons including one-year-old infant were killed while around 20 others sustained grievous injuries after the bus on which they were traveling overturned after being hit by a coal-laden truck in Odisha this afternoon.

The road accident took place at Bidu Chowk in Soro of Balasore district while the bus was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Udala of Mayurbhanjdistrict.

The passenger bus named ‘Shantilata’ turned turtle after it was hit by the speeding coal-laden truck from behind.

Local police with the help of some villagers and passersby carried out the rescue operation and admitted all the injured persons at Soro hospital for treatment.

The death toll likely to increase as most of the injured persons are in a critical condition.
