Rayagada: The Town police arrested six ganja smugglers including a woman from a hotel in the town on Monday.
Rayagada SDPO Tapan Kumar Rath informed that a team of the Town Police, acting on a tip-off, raided Raj Bhawan Hotel in the town and seized more than 16 kgs of ganja, packed in three sacks, and arrested the accused persons from the spot.
Police also seized six mobile phones, Rs 2000 and some pan cards from the possessions of the accused, he added.
Rath further said that one of the accused persons, Dipak Mukhi, who is also the mastermind of the ganja smuggling, has 11 criminal cases against him in Rourkela Plant Site Police station.
Likewise, two cases are pending against another accused person in Rourkela Government Railway Police (GRP) station, the SDPO informed.
The accused have been already forwarded to the court and further investigation into the matter is underway.
