Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths conducted raids against six government officials at various places including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur of Odisha on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets to their known sources of income.
The government officials have been identified as 1) Ramesh Chandra Panda, OAS Ex-Tahasildar, Kujang a/p Tahasildar- Tihidi 2) Mahendra Prasad Mohanty, OAS, Retd, Ex- Sub-Collector, Jagatsinghpur 3) Santosh Kumar Mallick, Ex-Revenue Inspector, Jhimani, RI Circle, 4) Narendra Kumar Lenka, Ex-Revenue Inspector, Paradeep Garh, Retd. 5) Subash Chandra Das, Ex- Revenue Inspector, Kujanga 6) Jyoti Bhusan Barik, Ex- Revenue Inspector, Pandua Circle.
Reports said that all of these government officials are under vigilance scanner for criminal misconduct, misappropriation, forgery and criminal conspiracy in illegally settling valuable Government land under the Odisha Government Land Settlement Act in favour of in-eligible beneficiaries under the Vasundhara scheme.
A case has been registered under section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 along with section 466/409/120-B of Indian Penal Code.
The Odisha Vigilance includes nine teams led by one Addl SP, 11 DSPs, 6 Insp conducted simultaneous raids at various nine places in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur.
The raids are underway and further details are awaited.
