6 arrested for loan fraud in Cuttack

Cuttack: As many as six persons including three cooperative bank staff and authorities of a cooperative society in Gurudujhatia under Choudwar police limits of Cuttack have been arrested in relation with Athagarh Samabay Samiti loan fraud for over one crore.

The accused persons include a peon, a secretary, an assistant secretary of Gurudijhatia Cooperative Society whereas a cashier, a supervisor and a clerk of Central Cooperative Bank of Athagarh branch.

Choudwar SDPO Satyabrata Lenka informed that they have been booked on charges of taking loans of over one crore rupees in their name.

A case has been registered against the six accused related to the criminal conspiracy. They will be forwarded to the court later in the day.

Earlier, the farmers had staged a road blockade in Athagarh town, attempted mass immolation in front of the State Assembly and demanded a probe into the loan fraud.
