576 Firms Served Public Notice In Connection With Chit Fund Scam

Bhubaneswar: The Justice MM Das Commission of Inquiry has served public notice via newspaper to as many as 576 companies in connection with the chit fund scam.

The commission has served notice to the companies for failing to appear before it. The notice has been issued in two phases asking the companies to appear before the inquiry commission between April 15 to September 24. In the first phase, the Commission has issued a notice to 199 companies whose address and information of owners are available. Furthermore, 377 other companies whose addresses are not available with the Commission were also asked to appear before it.

In February, the Odisha Government extended the tenure of the MM Das Commission by 6 months. So far, 2,18,354 depositors have been identified in the multi-crore chit fund scam.
