Malkangiri: As many as 50 militia members of Maoists surrendered before DGP Sunil Bansal at Jantri police camp in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri on Thursday.
Reportedly, all of them belong to the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) Maoist organization. These militia members of Maoists belong to Jantri, Panasaput, Andrapali, and Nakagudi panchayats.
The event was graced by Director of Intelligence Sanjeev Panda, Law Enforcement ADG R k Sharma, IG Operation Amitabh Thakur, SIW direction Anirudh Singh, BSF IG, DIG Koraput Range Rajesh Pandit, and Malkangiri SP.
The 50 Maoists have vowed to abstain from violence and also appealed to other Maoists to leave violence and join the mainstream of society.
Besides, the DGP has reviewed the situation in Maoist-held areas.
