Bhawanipatna: A 5-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a lightning bolt in Buringijhuli village under Lanjigarh Police Station in Kalahandi district last evening.
The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Majhi, son of Gourang Majhi of the same village.
As per the report, the minor was busy in playing at his house when the lightning strike took place and left him critically burned.
Family members rushed the victim to a nearby hospital immediately, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Getting intimation, local police rushed to the spot and lodged a case of unnatural death.
