Deogarh: In yet another tragic incident, a 5-year-old boy and his grandmother drowned to death while taking bath in a pond at Malichua village under Tileiguni block in Deogarh district on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Devi Singh (55) and her grandson Lalit Singh.
According to reports, Devi Singh had accompanied her grandson for a bath at the village pond. However, the kid slipped into deep water while bathing.
The boy’s grandmother tried to save him but she also drowned in the bid. By the time locals rescued the two, they were dead.
Meanwhile, the police has initiated a probe in the matter.
A pall of gloom has descended over the entire village.
