Berhampur: Covid-19 virus has also grabbed the inmates of the prison, as many as 46 Under Trial Prisoners (UTPs) of Mandal Jail in Berhampur have tested Covid positive.
Out of the 46 inmates, 5 are women who tested positive for the deadly virus. Swab sample of 84 UTPs were sent for RT-PCR test out of which 48 have tested positive.
Meanwhile, the contracted inmates have been shifted to the Covid Care Centre inside the premises of the jail and are under supervision, informs Jail Superintendent Garib Chandra Sahu.
Earlier, On May 12, nine UTPs had tested Covid positive at Keonjhar District jail.
