5 of a family injured as truck hits SUV in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: At least five members of a family sustained critical injuries after the car they were travelling by was hit by a potato-laden truck on National Highway-16 near Bhandaripokhari here last night.

As per the report, the victim family members identified as residents of Kolkata’s Rajghat and Liluah area had been to Puri to have darshan of Lord Jagannath yesterday and were returning in the night when the mishap took place.

The Honda SUV bearing registration number-WB 12D 0549 in which the family was travelling in was hit by a speeding potato-laden truck from the rear in front of Bhandaripokhari Fire Brigade office as the driver lost control over the wheels.

Bystanders rescued the victims who remained trapped inside the SUV following the crash and rushed them to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

Police have reached the spot and seized the mangled vehicle after lodging a case in connection with the crash.
