5 more MBBS students of Odisha’s VIMSAR test positive for Covid-19

Sambalpur: Another five MBBS students of Burla Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Odisha’s Sambalpur district have tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

With the detection of five more cases, the positive tally in the premier medical institute has risen to 56.

Meanwhile, VIMSAR Dean, Professor Jayshree Dora, informed that all the students and those who are suspected to have the virus have been kept in isolation to prevent the further spread of the infection.

It is to be noted here that several hostels and staff quarters of the VIMSAR have been declared as micro containment zones and buffer zones by the Sambalpur district administration. Earlier, 51 students of VIMSAR had tested positive for Covid-19.

The contact tracing of all the Covid positive MBBS students are underway. The college authorities have initiated the sanitization procedure in order to curb the coronavirus infection. All the exams and practicals will be conducted in online mode.
