5 killed as Chartered aircraft crashes in Mumbai

Mumbai: As many as five persons were killed after a 12-seater chartered aircraft crashed in Ghatkopar area here on Thursday.

The KING AIR C90 plane, carrying four people, two pilots and two Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, crashed into a construction site near Sarvodaya Hospital causing their death on the spot.

A pedestrian also became victim of the aircraft mishap dying on the spot while two other people, who suffered injuries have been rushed to the hospital.

Speaking about the plane crash, a Civil Aviation Ministry spokesperson said, “Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu has directed the concerned officials to rush to the accident spot in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai and provide all possible help and assistance. DGCA has been asked to conduct an investigation into the plane crash.”
