Baripada: At least five members of a family including three minors sustained critical injury after a car carrying them overturned on NH-220 near Bauna Sala area under Karanjia police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.
The injured have been identified as Shyam Charan Murmu, his wife Sukhi Murmu, two sons Sambit Murmu (3) and Sujit Murmu (2) along with nephew Balaram Murmu.
The mishap took place while the family was on its way to Bhubaneswar where Shyam works, boarding a Hyundai car (Registration No. OD 02 X 2987) in the morning. Shyam who was driving the car himself, lost control over the wheels near Bauna Sala area on the National Highway, causing the vehicle to skid off the road and turned turtle. While the vehicle got completely mangled in the mishap, all five boarding it sustained grievous injury.
All the injured were first rushed to Karanjia Sub Divisional Hospital by police and then shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack.
Police have also seized the mangled vehicle reaching the spot.
