Sundergarh: As many as 5 persons were taken critically ill after drinking raw Palm sap or Palm ‘toddy’ at Satakuta village under Banei Police limits in Sundergarh district.
The incident occurred on late Tuesday night after the persons consumed the toddy brewed in open containers under palm trees. They were first admitted to Banei Community Health Centre and were later shifted to Rourkela.
It is being said that the consumption of the contaminated ‘toddy’ is the reason behind their illness. As per reports, one of the critical persons is a college student.
