5 bullocks electrocuted to death in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In a shocking incident at least five bullocks have been electrocuted to death after coming in contact with a high power transmission wire in Bhejadihi village under Banspal block of Keonjhar district on Friday.

As per the report, a herd of cows and bullocks belonging to the residents Bhejadihi had been to a nearby forest for grazing purpose in the morning when the mishap took place. While grazing the cattle came in contact with a snapped 11kv power cable and got an electric shock.

While five of the bullocks died on the spot due to electrocution several others managed to escape.

The cowboy who was looking after the cattle managed to save his life due to timely step.

Meanwhile, the residents of Bhejadihi have demanded compensation for affected people who lost their cattle to the mishap claiming that they belong to the economically weaker section.

Electric department officials have also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
